PEI: BC Partners generated around €9bn of proceeds over past year and a half

In a recent interview with Private Equity International's Carmela Mendoza, Nikos Stathopoulos gave an insight into the strong exit momentum at BC Partners, which has monetised c.€9bn over the past year and a half.

Describing BC Partners' focus on exits, Nikos outlined that in the near to mid-term, exits remain the first, second, and third priority for the firm as the broader slowdown in distributions continues, with the upper mid-market -- where BC operates -- providing ideal exit optionality.

Stathopoulos told PEI: "We set a plan about 24 months ago that we wanted to systematically monetise certain assets, particularly from our 2017-vintage Fund X, in additional to sell-downs of our public companies. We've been successful in getting these exits out of the door." Returns have been attractive too, with recent exits delivering between 2.5-3x MOIC, he added. Fund XI, which held its final close in 2022, is nearly 70% invested, he added, declining to comment on fundraising plans for its successor vehicle."
